Manual Payroll: Short Answer (While Waiting for QBO Access)
- 📄 Get TD1 Forms (Federal + Provincial)
- Tells you the tax credits to apply
- Must be filled out by the employee
- You keep them on file — don’t send to CRA
- 💼 Register for CRA Payroll Program Account (RP number)
- Needed to remit tax, CPP, EI
- CRA Payroll Registration

- Go to CRA PDOC
- Plug in:
- Gross pay
- Province of employment
- Pay frequency
- TD1 info (basic claim amount or custom)
- It gives you:
- Federal & provincial tax
- CPP & EI deductions
- Net pay
- Employer's CPP & EI portions
- 💸 Pay the Employee
- Issue a cheque or e-transfer for net pay (gross – all deductions)
- 📤 Remit to CRA
- Remit monthly:
- Employee tax withheld
- CPP (employee + employer)
- EI (employee + 1.4× employer share)
- Use My Business Account, online banking, or PD7A form
